The Tour from Hell

Written by Canadian Nippon at 05:27 26/7-2021

Since I don't have much to do at the moment children, Let me tell you a story about the tour from Hell.

Like every great manager in OCM they always think the world of riders and the team as they head into a tour. In this case the tour was Volta Da Lagoa dos Patos; which even though it was cobble tour, this silly old expected the world of his riders.

We discussed for days if we were going to go after the GC on a hope and prayer with Conan Guillot or simply target race stages. In the end we decided to target at least the opening stage with Guillot and determine depending on placement if we would back him while compromising our second stage chances for a stage win.

With Guillot being placed third after the opening stage we decided to back him as planned in the second stage and to see if we could maintain our GC placement, rather then win the stage. This despite losing Lo SP Trevor Reis to injury in the prologue. In the end it seemed this worked with Guillot only losing a few seconds and still being well place.

We knew heading into the second day of the tour that his was going to be a turning point in the tour for the team. The day started with mechanical issues for Watts, Reis still injured and a poor performance from Guillot, which seen him complete drop out of the standings for the GC.

Stage four will be much better thought the silly manager since it cannot get any worse then stage 3 this morning; right? Oh, How wrong was I? Irving Watts and Morris Tomasin would both crash during the stage and both receive injuries. Meaning we had three of the six riders now at the back of the field nursing injuries and being complete non factors in support of Bitao, whom we gave the lead chasing an off chance result. In the end he also had bad legs and Guillot confirmed that GC hope were complete dead by finish well down the order in 61st.

Final day and final stage was expected to be Boris Bitao day but with only three riders left to try to lead him to stage victory it would be even a shocking to finish in the top 10 now. Then like a sick joke Conan Guillot was injuried in a crash towards the start of the stage meaning Bitao was left all a lone for any stage hopes as now four of the six riders were injured.

So here I am bored out of my mind waiting for not one, not two but four riders that make up my core team to recover from injury. Yeah, That is a real story about our tour from hell.
